以前、このメーリングリストでサウンドスケープはだれでも自由に編集できる
オープンストリートマップというオンライン地図を利用しているという情報を投稿しました。
その後、自分自身サウンドスケープがどのように地図を利用しているのか興味があり、
サウンドスケープがどのようにオープンストリートマップを利用しているのか
マイクロソフトフォーラムに質問を投げたのですが結局回答が得られませんでした。
ですが、同時にサウンドスケープのフィードバックのメールアドレスにも同様のメールを
送信しておりまして、そちらから返答を頂いたので共有させていただきます。
質問は2点です。
1.サウンドスケープはいくつのマップをつかっているのですか？
2.サウンドスケープがオープンストリートマップからの情報を更新するのはどのぐらいの
頻度ですか？
返答は以下の通りでした。

サウンドスケープはデータとしてはオープンストリートマップとマイクロソフトの
ビーイングマップを使っています。オープンストリートマップの情報は自動的に音声で流れる
情報として利用されるのに対して、ビーイングマップは画面上部の検索バーでの検索で
利用されます。アプリで表示されている地図はアップルのマップのもので、これは地図表示
だけに利用され、データは利用していません。

サウンドスケープはオープンストリートマップから１週間に１度の割合で情報を更新します。
追加の情報として以下も回答いただきました。
オープンストリートマップに追加した場所が検索できるかについては、検索にはビーイング
マップが使われているので無理です。ですが、追加した場所に歩いて近づいた場合には、
サウンドスケープが自動的に読み上げます。将来的に利用するためにその場所を
サウンドスケープのマーカーで記憶させることもできます。
以上が、意訳ですがFrazierさんとサウンドスケープチームからいただいた回答です。
私自身、１週間以上前に近くのバス停をオープンストリートマップに登録し、
オープンストリートマップ上に反映されているのですが、今日、サウンドスケープを
使って近くを歩いてみましたが、バス停は読み上げませんでした。
バス停などあれば便利かと思ったのですが、また一つ謎が増えてしまいました。
また、オープンストリートマップを編集し、サウンドスケープを使っていて
謎が増えたら質問し、回答が得られれば、できれば共有させていただきたいと
思っていますが、もしこの話題がこのメーリングリストにふさわしくない場合は
教えてください。

I'm sorry that your questions weren't answered on the community forum.
To answer your questions:
1. Soundscape used a combination of Open Street Map and Bing Maps for
its data. Open Street Maps is used for places which get automatically
called out, Bing Maps is used when you search for places using the
search bar at the top of the screen. The map that is displayed in the
app uses Apple Maps, but this is just for the map display, we do not use
the data from Apple Maps.
2. Soundscape updates the data once a week from Open Street Map.
Regarding being able to search for places you have added to Open Street
Map, that won't be possible due to Bing Maps data being used for search.
If you were to walk near to the places, then they should be
automatically announced by Soundscape though. You can also save them as
a Marker within Soundscape so that they are easy to find again in the
future.

But as the traffic is too low to get the answer, I write this mail.
The questions are
* Does Soundscape use Bing maps and Apple Maps app?
* How often does Soundscape update data from OpenStreetMap?
I've created some points on OpenStreetMap and the points are visible on
OpenStreetMap but not searchable from Soundscape.
So I want to know how long does it take to update for Soundscape.
